The Asheville Drum Circle, a fixture of downtown life during the warm months, is no longer seasonal. For the first time, it has a winter home.
Since its typical location, Pritchard Park, becomes inhospitable when the temperature drops, the drum circle is moving to New Mountain music venue until the weather warms, probably in April, according to Billy Zanski, a drum circle organizer and owner of Skinny Beats Drum Shop and Gallery.
Even though its inside, the drum circle format will remain unchanged. Drumming commences around 6 p.m. and ends when everyone leaves, usually around 9 p.m. Drummers, dancers and audience members can drop in and out at will.
