An Asheville minister at the forefront of the same-sex marriage fight is running for a seat on the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners.
The Rev. Jasmine Beach-Ferrara of the First Congregational United Church of Christ played a pivotal role in the national legalization of same-sex marriage. She is executive director of the Campaign for Southern Equality, a locally based advocacy group that filed a friend of the court brief in this spring’s Supreme Court ruling in favor of gay marriage.
Official filing for commissioner races is Dec. 1-21.
